Adaptive Reuse - Convent

In a small village in Belgium lies a long-abandoned monastery, now reimagined as The Community Hub in Borgloon. This innovative project seeks to unite three key goals: fostering meaningful relationships, promoting personal wellness, and preserving the monastery's rich heritage.

At the heart of this transformation is a striking design element within the chapel—a frosted plexiglass installation. Conceived and executed as my contribution to this group project, the installation creates a cocoon of comfort. It offers a serene space where visitors can pray, meditate, journal, or simply sit with their thoughts in peace and quiet. This thoughtful intervention harmonizes with the spiritual essence of the chapel while introducing a modern touch to its timeless environment.

The Community Hub stands as a testament to how design can breathe new life into historical spaces, creating environments that nurture both connection and solitude.
